What's On

Club Nights - Friday and Sunday nights

Calendar

Come down to club night every Friday from 5:40pm until 9pm and Sunday 5-7pm Just ask for 'Squash Club' and pay £2.90 on reception and bring your receipt upto the viewing area above the courts. Introduce yourself and we'll show you the ropes. This is the best time/place for informal games/mentoring/meeting other members and feedback and for good value squash. We usually get around 10-15 members turning up over the course of an evening, so you don't usually have to sit out too often between games. After 7pm, it usually quietens down and you can play squash almost non-stop for 2 hours if you want to. We have a good mix of standards playing at the moment from beginners to advanced players.

Team Squash

We currently have two winter teams and 4 summer teams in the Bristol and District League.. We're always looking out for new players and have quite a large squad at the moment. Matches run on Wednesday nights with a meal and drinks afterwards. Contact Bob Cant or Nigel Cooper if you're interested in joining the team.

Junior Squash

Our Junior Academy continues to go from strength to strength. Out junior coaches, Pete Blue and Julian Kendall run junior sessions every week on Tuesday afternoons 4:20-7pm. The sessions are very popular and currently have a waiting list. We are also running the County Academy at Bristol at the moment every month or so with a level 1 coach.

Boxes

Dave Lines is still running the boxes and sends out an email with results and new boxes every month and posts them on the notice board. All members should endeavour to play all their matches and offer the points to their opponent if unable to play. Feel free to contact Dave if you have any issues with the boxes. You can download the latest boxes here and the contact details here. We feel the best way to organise matches is to telephone and speak direct, otherwise people can just let matches slip.

Coaching

Improvers squash is on Sunday mornings 10:20-11:40 January until Easter every year. Nigel Cooper takes the session which is aimed and technique, tactics and fitness. The sessions are aimed at the level of who turns up and are great fun. Just turn up or email Nigel Cooper for details.

Advanced squash coaching is by appointment and is provided by Mike Nicholls from Redland Squash Club. Contact Nigel to arrange a session.

One-day tournaments

Nigel runs a number of one-day tournaments throughout the year. These are great fun and are often followed by a meal. The format is usually round-robin so you're guaranteed to get a number of games.

Club Skiing Holiday

Jim Calleja will be organising next years holiday skiing sometime soon. This usually involves sharing a twin room with another member. Cost around £700, but bring plenty of beer money. Contact Jim for full details.
